Downtown Merchants to do Spring Cleaning on May 11

Merchants of Downtown Vernon are getting in to the spring spirit on May 11th as they hold the Downtown’s Annual Spring Clean-Up and Sparkle Day.

According to DVA Executive Director Earl Hansen, “the event gives businesses the opportunity to make the downtown area more visually appealing for customers.”

Hansen said there will be two main areas of activity occurring during the Spring Clean-Up and Sparkle Day. The first part will see merchants with brooms, dust pans, window cleaner & scrub brushes cleaning the front of their building and their sidewalk area. Merchants are also being encouraged to think green and place a planter outside their store or do a new window display.

The second part of the program is the placement of the hanging baskets on the lampposts in heart of the downtown area, a true sign of the start of spring.

Hansen thanked all of the merchants who are participating in the program and are committed to making Downtown the best it can be as we start to move in to a very busy time of year. Earl Hansen would also like to thank the City of Vernon crew for their assistance with the hanging of the hanging baskets.
