DVA SET FOR BROOMBALL TOURNAMENT  

 

Many local businesses and organizations are getting geared up to participate in the 2nd Annual DVA/RBC Broomball Tournament to be held during the 50th Annual Vernon Winter Carnival in Downtown Vernon.

 

Allan Francis Pringle will be battling to defend their championship and are encouraging all Vernon residents to come out and watch the action during the 50th Annual Winter Carnival in Downtown Vernon.   

 

 

“We are thrilled with the increased number of teams we have this year and are very pleased to announce 12 registered teams!” said Holly Schmidt, Events & Marketing Coordinator for the DVA.   All teams are made up of a minimum of six players, two of which must be women. The teams are responsible for their own jerseys and helmets, while the DVA provides corn brooms and the official outdoor broomball. Teams are encouraged to dress up and make this an excellent teambuilding event for their organization.

 

The 12 teams registered for Broomball include:

  • Davidson Lawyers LLP (The Davidson Destroyers)
  • KPMG (KPMG Frozen Assets)
  • Meridian Rehabilitation Centre (Meridian Rehab)
  • Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Summit)
  • The Vernon Morning Star (Vernon Morning Stars) 
  • Okanagan Science Centre (“Astro-Nuts”)
  • Vernon Women’s Hockey Team (KissFM Rocketstars)
  • Allan Francis Pringle (AFP “Chaos”)
  • RBC (RBC Lions)
  • North Okanagan Youth & Family Services Society (NOYFSS) 
  • City of Vernon, Development Services (City of Vernon)
  • RCMP (RCMP Street Cleaners) 

 

The broomball action will takes place on various blocks of 30th Avenue from February 2nd through February 4th. The ball drops at 11:15 am all three days.  
NOTE: Street Closures

February 2nd            2900/3000 Block                  10am to 2pm

February 3rd             3300/3400 Block                  10am to 2pm

 

February 4th             3100 Block                            10am to 2pm
