Winter Carnival is fast approaching and upon it’s kickoff on Friday January 29^th, Vernon residents will be able to purchase their Chili Passports with proceeds going to the Haiti Earthquake Relief.

“In light of the unfortunate situation in Haiti right now, the DVA and Kiss FM, along with participating restaurants wanted to do a small part to contribute to the massive relief effort that will be required there.” says Earl Hansen, Executive Director of the Downtown Vernon Association.

The DVA/Kiss FM Chili Cook Off will have Vernon residents, Chili Passport in hand, visiting participating restaurants between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Friday February 5^th.

Participating restaurants include:

• 2P’s Health Kitchen
• Crush Bistro
• The Cracked Pot Coffee Emporium
• Los Huesos Restaurant

The Chili Passport will allow them to experience a variety of chilis and get to vote for their favorite chili along with their favorite chili team. The participating restaurants are encouraged to decorate their location and dress up in the Winter Carnival spirit. Those sampling will also have the opportunity (after visiting each restaurant and voting) to win an excellent Chili Pot prize package filled with Kiss FM giveaways and lunch for two at each of the participating restaurants.

Chili Passports will be available for $2.00 starting January 29^th from the DVA office, Kiss FM, 2P’s Health Kitchen, Crush Bistro, The Cracked Pot Coffee Emporium and Los Huesos Restaurant. Limited passports are available, so be sure to get yours early!
