The Downtown Vernon Association is bringing people back to the park! Cenotaph Park, located on the corner of 31st Ave and 30th Street has been cleaned up and is waiting to welcome families, visitors and community members back to its cool, quiet retreat. The DVA, the Commissionaires, the R.C.M.P and our City Bylaw Officers have been working very hard over the last year to clear criminal activity out of this area, and they have been extremely successful in restoring the original beauty and brilliance to this downtown gem!
To encourage usage of this area, the Downtown Vernon Association will be putting on events in the park every Tuesday in August. Entertainment will take place every Tuesday and will showcase different performances or activities each week from music to theatre. This upcoming Tuesday, July 31st, the band "The Mess" www.themess.ca will be performing between 11am and 1pm. That evening we will also be having the wrap up to the 1st annual Vernon's Got Talent between 7pm and 9pm.
People can watch for weekly updates about whether the performance will take place between 11am - 1pm, or in the evenings. Come out and enjoy your lunch on the grass, absorb the stories behind the detailed mural that encompasses the park or take a break from your day to revel in a few moments of free entertainment.
